New Lanark Hotel is uniquely situated in the centre of the UNESCO New Lanark World Heritage Site. One of Scotland’s six UNESCO World Heritage Sites, New Lanark is an 18th-century cotton mill village sitting alongside the picturesque River Clyde.   • Visitor Attraction

    The Visitor Attraction is currently closed and will reopen when we can do so safely. We aim to reopen the Visitor Attraction from May 28th, 2021.

    The award-winning New Lanark Visitor Attraction tells the internationally important story of New Lanark, from its founding as a cotton spinning village in 1785 to the enlightened social and workplace reforms of Robert Owen in the early nineteenth century. Visitors may also explore the modernisation and changes of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries through to the closure of the mills in 1968. Since 1974, New Lanark has been restored and brought back to life, and was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001 for its Outstanding Universal Value, Authenticity and Integrity.

    The Visitor Attraction will be open weekends, 11am - 5pm and 7 days a week throughout the Scottish School Holidays.

  • Gardens, Walks and the Falls of Clyde
    Take a stroll to the Falls of Clyde
    You will not be short of beautiful walks to explore during your stay in New Lanark. The Falls of Clyde provide a wonderful destination for a walk from the Hotel, as well as providing the hydro-power required to allow us to generate our very own hydro-electricity, You can come along and see our restored 1930s Boving Turbine working to power the mill buildings, just as it would have in the past!

    The New Lanark General Store offers a superb range of contemporary gifts, homeware, toys, books & Scottish produce. Our very own New Lanark Spinning Company products take centre stage. You can see our working historic textile machinery in the Visitor Attraction, and then browse the stunning yarns, knitting kits and a selection of textiles in the shop. The New Lanark General Store is also the home of the world's first Organic Tartan, which is exclusively sold here through a range of beautiful throws, bags, purses and accessories. Our Mill Shop is open all year round.
     
    The New Lanark Spinning Co. General Store is open Monday - Friday, 11am - 4:30pm and 11am - 5pm, Saturday & Sunday.

    We Even Make Our Own Ice-Cream!

    Looking for a quick bite as you explore the Village? Sample the delicious fare in our family friendly Mill Café. Choose from a wide range of hot and cold food, lunches, light refreshments, home-baking, tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Our award-winning New Lanark Ice Cream is made to a traditional recipe and comes in a range of fantastic flavours. You can purchase our Ice Cream in the Mill Cafe to take-away or eat there and then if you can’t wait! All profits from New Lanark Ice Cream are invested in the restoration and development of this World Heritage Site.
